Professor Vaughn Booker has article published in Religions, Evangelicalism: New Directions in Scholarship. "Mothers of the Movement: Evangelicalism and Religious Experience in Black Women's Activism" refocuses the narrative of American Evangelicalism and politics around Black women's narratives of religious experience, expression, mourning, and activism.

Booker will be discussing Henry Louis Gates' new PBS documentary series, "The Black Church: This is Our Story, This is Our Song," which traces the 400-year-old story of the Black church in America.

In November, Alex Blue, AAAS Thurgood Marshall Fellow, successfully defended his dissertation (virtually) at UC Santa Barbara and became a Doctor of Ethnomusicology. His dissertation is titled: A Matter of Death and Life: Necrographies of Hip-Hop in Contemporary Detroit.

Dr. Shamell Bell's #BlackLivesMatter class will host a community gathering centered in joy, love, and liberation. At the event, on-the-ground activists will join students and community members to celebrate the students' work and collectively move their work forward.
