Minor

Interested students may pursue a concentrated program of study by minoring in African and African American Studies. Students who minor in AAAS are expected to gain cross-disciplinary and diaspora exposure.

Minor Requirements

Students wishing to minor in AAAS must complete six courses. 

Two introductory courses.  Choose from:

  • AAAS 9 Introduction to AAAS Diaspora Studies
  • AAAS 10 Introduction to African American Studies 
  • AAAS 11 Introduction to African Studies 

And four additional courses in AAAS. 

Students are encouraged to take Senior Seminars and Senior Independent Research courses as part of their four electives. 

In order to officially file the minor, students must meet with the Chair or a program faculty member to discuss minor requirements and to arrange for online approval.
