Students are nominated for prizes by the AAAS faculty.

The William Cook-Louise Cook Jacobs Award in African American Arts and Letters

The William Cook-Louise Cook Jacobs Award in African American Arts and Letters shall be awarded to a fourth year student or students whose work displays an interest and excellence in African American arts and letters.

The Pamela Joyner Prize in African and African American Studies

The Pamela Joyner Prize in African and African American Studies is awarded to the best graduating senior who has taken at least four AAAS courses. At least two instructors from the courses taken must support a student’s candidacy.

The Gary Love Prize in African and African American Studies

The Gary Love Prize in African and African American Studies is awarded to the student with the most successfully completed thesis or research project in AAAS.
