[more]Writer Chika Unigwe will be in residence with the AAAS Program the week of October 28th to November 5th. She will also be speaking at the keynote roundtable for the Gender and Sexuality in Africa Conference on November 3rd.
[more]AAAS will offer a foreign study program in Paris, France entitled "Afro/Black Paris" in Summer 2018. The FSP is focused on the historical, cultural, and social significance of African descended people in this region of the African Diaspora. Applications will be due February 1, 2018.
[more]Professor Rashauna Johnson's new book Slavery's Metropolis (Cambridge, 2016) has been named a finalist for the Frederick Douglass Book Prize. Sponsored by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition at Yale University, the Frederick Douglass Book Prize recognizes the best book on slavery, resistance, and/or abolition published in the preceding year.
