Shelby M. Sinclair is the Thurgood Marshall Postdoctoral Fellow in African & African American Studies at Dartmouth College. Her research focuses on gender, empire, labor, and resistance in the Caribbean and its diasporas. She earned her PhD in History, African American Studies, and Gender & Sexuality Studies from Princeton University. Dr. Sinclair is currently working on a book manuscript that explores Haitian women's lives and labors during the 19-year United States military occupation of Haiti (1915-1934)
